The Ethnographic & Ethnobotanical Research Nexus grounds every SapHouse initiative in lived experience. By honoring ancestral knowledge and translating community stories into data-driven action, we design systems that heal, sustain, and empower from the roots up.
TreeCrew Research is a dynamic arm of SapHouse that bridges traditional knowledge with contemporary strategy. We work at the intersection of story, science, and sustainability—preserving ancestral plant knowledge and amplifying the voices of historically underrepresented communities.
By combining cultural research, herbal fieldwork, and applied insight, we generate human-centered data that informs not only SapHouse programs but also empowers external organizations, businesses, educators, and policymakers to design more inclusive, effective, and equitable systems.
Our researchers offer deeply participatory, community-led approaches to knowledge gathering. We don’t extract—we engage. We co-create archives, build curriculum, and consult with mission-aligned partners to ensure that the wisdom of the past continues to shape the innovation of the future
To preserve ancestral plant traditions, elevate community voices, and produce culturally grounded research that informs education, wellness, environmental justice, and social innovation—across sectors and generations.
This research nexus isn’t just about documentation—it’s about transformation. Our work supports:
